Premium Sale—Friday, June 21st at 6:00 p.m.
Each member may sell one market lamb at the sale.

New in 2024: All 4-H and FFA exhibits must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (Health Certificate) to be eligible to show. This Health Certificate must have been written within 30 days of exhibition. All cattle, swine, sheep, and goats must also be identified by either an ear tag, electronic implant or tattoo. This new rule comes from the Missouri State Fair and will effect open classes in 2025.

  1. Sheep must be owned by spring weigh-in, born after September 1, 2023 and still have milk teeth in place to be eligible for both the Market Lamb Show as well as the Howard County Premium Sale.
  2. Initial Market lamb weigh-in was in April 10th.
  3. Registration forms must be returned to the Howard County Extension Office by MAY 10, 2024.   Forms are available at the Extension Office or through your club leader.
  4. All exhibitors must be SMQA Certified.
  5. All exhibits must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (health certificate) to be eligible to show. The health certificate must have been written within 30 days of exhibition. All sheep must be identified either by ear tag, electronic implant or tattoo.
  6. Exhibitors help is expected in setting up the barn. Set-up is on Thursday, June 13, 2024.
  7. All exhibits must be in place by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
  8. Exhibitor must groom and care for their animal.
  9. An individual may show two market sheep, but only one will be allowed to enter the sale. The highest placing animal will sell.
  10. Sheep must weigh a minimum of 50 pounds and meet a minimum rate of gain of 0.25 pounds per day, in order to be eligible for any Champion Classes, as well as the Howard County Premium Sale.
  11. All sheep must be stalled by 4-H/FFA club of which exhibitor is a member.
  12. Eligibility of miniature sheep breeds will be determined by the livestock committee.
